2012 is the year to celebrate awareness about the 'Saving water'.
One again 'Lakehead Grammar School' was raising awareness about this essential energy resource 'WATER'.On 27th April, 2012 'Go Green' event was celebrated with the same enthusiasm as it was observed in 2011.
Slogan of this campaign was 'Save water, save life and save the world'.
Students from Early years(Play group/Nursery) or higher standards such as class 8 or 9, all were working at projects, slides, posters, crafts work, activities, role plays and etc just to create an awareness about 'Saving Water'. Other related issues such as 'water pollution' were also discussed.
The whole program was divided into two parts. First part was held from for female students and teachers, and same program was repeated for male students and visitors. Visitors were guided by the volunteer students around the school to show them different stalls showing slogans, posters, bookmarks, and various water based projects.
It's not long ago, Lakehead became the first ever school among the region, to start raising awareness about environment issues such as 'Energy, Water, Air, Earth and Climate chage'. It was named 'Go Green' event.
First part of this 5 year plan started in 2011. March 12, 2011 was the day to start this event 'Green Deen Day'.
Purpose of 'Green Deen Day':
- Successfully implement the Go Green Initiative and create meaningful environmental change at school, among parents and society.
- To realize our responsibilites as Muslims to be protectors and caretakes of our environment.
'Go Green'is campaign about environmental issues that affect the future of the planet.
"Going green" is a term used to describe "being more environmentally conscious in all aspects of your life".
A "Green Deen" is the choice to practice your religion while affirming the synergies between faith and the environment. Environmentalism fits into the goals and ethics of Islam. There is ample evidence in the Quran - over 700 verses that relate humans to their environment.
