Manali (Himachal Pradesh)Tour:

Manali is a hill station nestled in the mountains of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh near the northern end of the Kullu Valley, at an altitude of 2,050 m (6,726 ft) in the Beas River Valley. It is located in the Kullu district, about 270 km (168 mi) north of the state capital, Shimla.

This small town, with a population of 8,096, is the beginning of an ancient trade route to Ladakh and from there over the Karakoram Pass on to Yarkand and Khotan in the Tarim Basin.
It has become a tourist attraction in recent years.

Manali welcomed us in morning 9am with cold breeze

The climate in Manali is cold during winters, and moderately cool during summers. We visited Manali during first week of April, and it was cold there. Weather is very uncertain, as within few minutes, you can feel warm sun light and other few minutes, rain starts with cold wind.


Lodging at Manali was a good experience as they offer breakfast and dinner buffet. including night stay. The hotel where we stayed offered veg menus which I liked a lot, but three of my male companions were in trouble to see only veg dishes(They are true non-veg people)

The center point place of Manali

Places we visited at Manali:

Solang Valley: It is situated 14 kilometers northwest of Manali on the way to Rohtang Pass. There are giant lawn slopes of Solang Valley where you can enjoy summer and winter sports like parachuting, paragliding, skating, zorbing and skiing. To visit solang valley, you may need ski suit with boots to play ice sports. When you come closer to Solang valley, you can note a line of shops where you can hire ski clothes. You have to pay Indian 200 Rupees to hire a dress. Then to play winter sports, instructors charge separately.
Nehru Kund: refers to a natural cold water spring that originates from the Brighu River. The springs are located 5 Kilometers from Manali on the national highway to Leh towards Keylong. The place is named after Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru who was said to drink from this very spring whenever he visited Manali. The place is a serene and beautiful picnic spot.

River Rafting at Beas River

Beas River is often described as the Heart of Kullu valley and is known for its various camping spots and water sports. The river also marks the eastern border of Alexander the Great’s empire in 326 BC. The flow of the river is very fast and is not fit for swimming, but is the perfect for Rafting. The shores of the Beas are famous picnic spots and the best place to relax during the evenings.

Shimla Tour:

Simla, is the capital city of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, located in northern India. Shimla is bounded by Mandi and Kullu in the north, Kinnaur in the east, the state of Uttarakhand in the south-east, and Solan and Sirmaur to the south.

Shimla acts as a hub for India's tourism sector. It is among the top 10 preferred entrepreneurial locations in India. Shimla is home to a number of colleges and research institutions as well as multiple temples and palaces. The city's buildings are styled in the Tudorbethan and neo-Gothic architectures dating from the colonial era. It has an average altitude of 2,397 metres (7,864 ft) above mean sea level.

At Naldehra Golf Club, Shimla

Hotel industry is one of the major source of income generation for the city. Shimla leads the list of Indian cities with the highest ranked hotels.

The Mall: The Mall is the main shopping street of Shimla. It also has many restaurants, clubs, banks, bars, Post Offices and tourist offices. People walk up and down the Mall slowly, stopping to gossip, as it is the main meeting place for everyone. The Ridge and Scandal point are the two main meeting points at the Mall.

Kufri: 16 km from Shimla at a height of 8,600 ft, Kufri is the local winter sports centre, and it also has a small zoo.

Naldehra: 22 km from Shimla, with a nine-hole Naldehra Golf Club. The annual Sipi fair in June is held in Naldehra.

The scenic Kalka Shimla Railway, a narrow gauge track, is listed in the Guinness Book of Records for the steepest rise in altitude in a distance of 96 km.

City tours for whole day or 2, 3 days can be booked via your hotel. Hiring a car or if sharing a tourist bus is the best way to visit all sight seeing places. We skipped few temple places but tried to visit cultural, historical or sight seeing places during our city tour.

Comparing to our homeland, I can say that 'as I have traveled in Bangladesh - to hilly areas. There are many sight seeing places around those places'. Only lacking is the the interest of tourism department or private organisations who could advertise these places, create some rest houses and picnic spots for tourist.
